The WHY? is simple: These kids are pure MAGIC. The town of Jaibalito, Lake Atitlan Guatemala is teeming with hundreds of young rambunctious children all beaming with joy and life, while simultaneously facing the very real challenges of what it means to be born and raised in a forgotten pueblo and an ancient indigenous Mayan culture that barely survives below the standard poverty line. Despite their monumental life challenges, if you look at their faces in the pictures and videos YOU WILL FALL IN TRUE LOVE!
¿El porque? es simple: estos niños son pura magia. La ciudad de Jaibalito, Lago de Atitlán, Guatemala, está repleta de cientos de niños revoltosos, todos radiantes de alegría y vida, al mismo tiempo que enfrentan los desafíos muy reales de lo que significa nacer y criarse en un pueblo olvidado y una antigua cultura indígena maya que apenas sobrevive por debajo de la línea de pobreza estándar. Many of the kids in Jaibalito believe they have little chance of escaping their extremely impoverished circumstances, so they are heavily discouraged at a young age which is why most quit school, accept low paying menial jobs and some turn to drugs and crime. Some of them don’t know how to read and write because they are not motivated to take school seriously. However, SOCCER IS THE ONE THING THAT MOTIVATES THEM and keeps them out of the streets, and they take their soccer very seriously. By creating a structure for these kids to play soccer weekly at school, and providing them with mentorship and inspiration we can begin to open their minds and hearts to the benefits of getting an education and what it means to live a “better” life.
Los niños de Jaibalito creen que tienen pocas posibilidades de escapar de sus circunstancias de extrema pobreza, por lo que se sienten muy desanimados a una edad temprana, razón por la cual la mayoría recurre a las drogas, los trabajos de baja categoría y el crimen. La mayoría de ellos ni siquiera saben leer y escribir porque no están motivados para tomarse la escuela en serio. Sin embargo, EL FÚTBOL ES LO ÚNICO QUE LOS MOTIVA y los mantiene fuera de las calles, y se toman su fútbol muy en serio. Al crear una estructura para que estos niños jueguen fútbol semanalmente en la escuela y brindarles orientación e inspiración, podemos comenzar a abrir sus mentes y corazones a los beneficios de obtener una educación y lo que significa vivir una vida "mejor".

To raise a minimum of $60,000 to build a beautiful soccer field with stadium seating, changing rooms and showers, lights, bathroom (the works) in front of the local elementary school.
Develop a little league program run by the locals that hosts games year-around for the kids and their families. This league will be directly associated with the school and local non-profit education organizations.
Establish a formal mentorship program where we train locals to become mentors for their youth and establish program where people around the world can choose to mentor and inspire these kids and host an annual mentor student all-star game in Jaibalito.
Recaudar un mínimo de $60,000 para construir una hermosa cancha de fútbol con asientos de estadio, vestuarios y duchas, luces, baño (y todas las obras) frente a la escuela primaria local.
Desarrolle un programa de ligas pequeñas dirigido por los lugareños que organice juegos durante todo el año para los niños y sus familias. Esta liga estará directamente asociada con la escuela y las organizaciones educativas locales sin fines de lucro.
Establecer un programa formal de mentores en el que capacitamos a los lugareños para que se conviertan en mentores de sus jóvenes y establecer un programa en el que personas de todo el mundo puedan elegir ser mentores e inspirar a estos niños y organizar un juego anual de estrellas para estudiantes mentores en Jaibalito.

We have also partnered with men’s leadership organization THE MENTOUR to create a bespoke mentorship program that supports the school and local children of Jaibalito. From foreigner all-star games, and one-on-one mentorships, to local futbol training practice and overseas one-on-one digital sponsorship relationships.

Pledge $1,000 to sponsors one child, including artwork and photos and your name will be put on a gold metal donor plaque at the entrance of the field.
